Back up and sync is a storage service that automatically saves your photos and videos to your Google Account. These photos and videos will be attainable from any device where you lot are logged into your account.

Benefits

What you need to support photos & videos

  • Practiced internet connectedness.
  • File sizes that can be backed up.  Your files won't be backed upwardly if they are:
    • Photos larger than 200 MB or 150 MP
    • Videos larger than ten GB.
    • Items smaller than 256 x 256.
  • File types that can be backed upward.
    • Photos: .jpg, .heic, .png, .webp, .gif, and some RAW files.
    • Live photos tin be backed upwards if you use the Google Photos app on your iPhone or iPad.
    • Videos: .mpg, .mod, .mmv, .tod, .wmv, .asf, .avi, .divx, .mov, .m4v, .3gp, .3g2, .mp4, .m2t, .m2ts, .mts, and .mkv files.

If you effort to back up a file type not listed here, it may non work with Google Photos.

In that location are two ways to back up your phone, camera, or storage card from your estimator:

  1. Install Backup and Sync.
  2. Upload photos from your browser.

Ready Google Drive for desktop

  1. On your reckoner, download and install Google Drive for Desktop.
  2. Sign in to your Google Account.
  3. Select the folders or pictures you desire to back up and thenBack upwards to Google Photos.
  4. Select Done and thenSalve.

Important:

  • If you remove a photo or video from your computer that you lot previously backed up to Google Photos, information technology stays in Google Photos.
  • If you remove a photograph or video from Google Photos, it isn't removed from Google Drive or your reckoner.
  • Uploads tin exist slower and use more than storage if you lot back up to both Google Photos and Google Drive. Unless you demand a second copy in Drive, nosotros recommend y'all back up photos and videos to Google Photos.

If you already have Backup and Sync for Bulldoze

Fill-in and Sync is now Google Drive for desktop.

Select a unlike upload size

Yous can change the upload size for photos and videos backed up to Google Photos from your computer.

Important: You tin't change the upload size for files synced with Google Drive.

Support your Apple tree Photo Library (Mac merely)

Tips:

  • If you have more than than i Apple Photos Library, only the Arrangement Photo Library will be backed upward. You lot can use Apple tree Photos to alter the System Photo Library.
  • If your Apple Photo Library is synced with iCloud, all photos and videos in your library and cloud will exist backed up to Google Photos on macOS 10.15 and to a higher place.

Upload items to Google Photos from your browser

  1. On your computer, open photos.google.com.
  2. At the peak right, click Upload and thenCalculator.
  3. Find and select your photos.
  4. Click Open.

You can also drag photos from your figurer to the album to upload them to Google Photos. If yous drag a photo to a specific anthology, the photograph will be uploaded to that album.
